Garden Deva

One of the true highlights of our fall is always the Garden Deva Open Studio Party. It’s a chance to reconnect with market customers and friends who we haven’t seen since late September or early October and those we haven’t seen since the last Garden Deva event.

Time and again I forgot to pull out my camera which was in the bottom of my knitting bag. But I did manage a few quick photos.

Friday morning before things got busy I snapped several shots of interesting vendor booths.  Sadly only one came out. This funky doll is named Molly Malone. Isn’t she great?

Later on Friday Nancy & Sue of Cordero Farms came by. If you’re a Oklahoma Food Coop member you probably know Nanc and Sue already. Some our Lost City Knits yarn is spun from sheep on their farm – like Oprah whose lovely dark fleece we have spun with 20% bamboo for a nice subtle yarn that’s great for scarves or mittens. Nanc and Sue have invited Chris and I out during lambing season. I’m really jazzed about seeing the little lambs!

There are too many great vendors at this event to list them all. The Garden Deva studio offers amazing metal art for both interior and garden decor. If you’re in the Tulsa area you’ve most probably seen their work all over town. During the two day event there are snacks available and adult beverages to keep you musing around and enjoying the art on display and available for purchase. Customers come for both days then chat and shop for hours on end.

One of the highlights for vendors this year was the hour after the event ended while we were packing up our wares. By the end of any show we usually exhausted and there is little chatting going on. People are just ready to go home. But in true Garden Deva style, several African drums were pulled out (from the booth that was selling them) and an impromptu drum circle began. There wasn’t a body in the house that wasn’t moving and grooving! Some vendors left their chores and danced or drummed. There were even a few straggling customers that joined in. Some of us kept packing but with a new fresh feeling as we limbered up from the rhythm that penetrated the studio.  What a weekend!
